Nicole Burnette Recognized by the Kauffman Foundation

A tip of the cap goes to Work-Based Learning Coach Nicole Burnette after being recognized for her hard work.
Burnette was presented with the Champion of Professional Development Leadership Award at Kansas City’s Union Station on Thursday, January 30.

The ceremony was part of the Annual Real World Learning luncheon, sponsored by the Ewing M. Kauffman Foundation.
“It feels amazing to be recognized and to be part of developing the processes that will play a role in achieving our North Star,” said Burnette.

The North Star goal of Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools is to have 100% of students graduate with a Diploma+ endorsement, with no disparities in race or gender subgroups while also meeting or exceeding the average state graduation rate.
It’s a sentiment Burnette believes wholeheartedly. “My work is important because representation matters, and we are all responsible for making it an easier path for everyone who comes after us,” added Burnette.

The event at Union Station recognized employers, educators, and students across the greater Kansas City area who are making a difference in education.
Congratulations Nicole.
